We invite the community to bring a picnic lunch and gather on the Hoover Tower lawn for a carillon concert in honor of Lou Henry Hoover and Women's History Month.
Born March 29, 1874, Lou Henry Hoover's passion for learning and adventure inspired a lifetime of remarkable achievements in the areas of advocacy for women's rights, education, and athletics; children's welfare; humanitarian relief; environmental conservation; and diplomacy. She was the first female graduate of Geology at Stanford University, an early leader and advocate for the Girl Scouts of America, and she redefined the role of First Lady in the White House.
The carillon concert will be performed by Stanford University carillonneur Timothy Zerlang and will begin at 12:15pm. He will be performing:
- Prelude VI in G - Matthais Van den Gheyn
- Adagio in G, from Sonata I for solo violin - J. S. Bach, arr. Albert Gerken
- Sonatine II for Carillon - Sjef van Balkom
- Ceciliana in D - Johannes de Gruytters
- Prelude V in D - Matthias Vanden Gheyn
