About the Speaker
Laurent Cruveillier is the Hoover Institution Library & Archives Book & Paper Conservator. After a Business School degree from EM-Lyon Business School (MSc Management) and postgraduate degrees in International Trade and Science Management, he worked 23 years in Portugal as a marketing and advertising executive and manager. He now holds a master's degree in Conservation with distinction from University of the Arts London – Camberwell College, a program that led him to intern at the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Royal Collections at Windsor Castle. Prior to moving to California, Laurent was working at University College London, as Paper Conservator in the Special Collections Department. The work of the Conservation department at the Hoover Institution Library & Archives includes providing input for collection care decision making, assessing and stabilizing incoming collections, preparing collections for digitization and high-resolution imaging, supporting engagement activities such as exhibits or loans, conserving library and archives materials, supporting research activities, like handling fragile objects for researchers, training colleagues and interns, promoting good practices in object handling and preservation.
