Undergraduate Stanford students produced a “2040 Global Trends” report, based on 7th edition of the National Intelligence Council’s Global Trends report, for the 2023 winter quarter iteration of Global Futures: History, Statecraft, Systems (Political Science 216/IntPol 222/HIS 205F). The students highlighted demographic changes—falling birthrates, shifting immigration flows, and resulting economic impacts—and the increasingly privatized and militarized domain of space as key areas of future strategic importance to U.S. national interests.
