Tara Slough is an assistant professor in the Wilf Family Department of Politics at New York University. She works in the fields of comparative politics, political economy, and political methodology. Slough studies bureaucratic institutions in low- and middle-income democracies, with an emphasis on bureaucratic service provision and administrative data production. Her methodological research develops links between applied theory and empirical research design.

Slough’s work has appeared in the American Political Science Review, the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Politics, Science, and Proceedings of the National Association of Sciences, among other venues. Her research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the US Agency for International Development, the UK Department for International Development, Evidence in Governance and Politics, the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, and Innovations for Poverty Action. Slough earned her PhD from Columbia University in 2020.
