Bob Bruce graduated from the US Naval Academy with a BS in aerospace engineering. He retired from the Marine Corps as a colonel following thirty combined years of active duty and reserve service as an infantry and artillery officer. He served in command, staff, and operations roles throughout his career. He led marines in combat and commanded at the platoon, company, and battalion level. He also worked on Capitol Hill as a military fellow assigned to the office of the US Senate Majority Leader. 

He received his JD from the University of Southern California Law School. Out of uniform, he is currently managing counsel, product liability litigation at Tesla Motors. Prior to his recent return to civil litigation, he worked for seventeen years as a prosecutor in San Diego, where he prosecuted serious and violent felony cases including murders, carjackings, robberies, financial crimes, and complex gang conspiracies. Before working as a prosecutor, he represented major automotive and sporting goods manufacturers in high-stakes product liability litigation.
