Jonathan Pan

Jonathan Pan is a visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution, where he focuses on the intersection of national security, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), and video games. Pan is particularly interested in enhancing wargames and simulations with AI/ML. He is also the chief executive officer at Exia Games, a defense AI startup.

Most recently, Pan was senior director of product management, Metaverse, at Walmart. Pan has also had leadership roles in gaming teams at Amazon, Meta, and Riot Games. He began his business career as a senior consultant at Ernst & Young.

Pan served from 2005 to 2010 in the US Army as an infantry officer with a combat tour in Afghanistan. His writings about his combat experience have been published in Joint Forces Quarterly, Military Review, Infantry Magazine, and other outlets. Pan is a graduate of New York University and Baruch College, City University of New York.
