Harald Uhlig is the Bruce Allen and Barbara Ritzenthaler Professor in Economics and the College in the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at the University of Chicago. He previously held positions at Princeton University, Tilburg University (Netherlands), and Humboldt Universität Berlin. His research interests are in macroeconomics, financial markets, and Bayesian econometrics, and in particular at the intersection of these three.

Uhlig has been a member of the the University of Chicago Economics Department since 2007 and served as the department chairman from 2009 to 2012. Among his accomplishments, he served as coeditor of Econometrica from 2006 to 2010 and has been the managing editor of the Journal of Political Economy  since 2013. He is a consultant for the Deutsche Bundesbank and the Bank for International Settlements. He chaired the Center for Economic and Policy Research European Business Cycle Dating Committee from 2005 to 2012 and is a member of the National Bureau of Economic Research.
