Captain K.R. Reinhold, representing the US Coast Guard, was a national security affairs fellow at the Hoover Institution.

As an MH-65E Dolphin helicopter pilot, he has conducted search-and-rescue, counterdrug, and airspace intercept operations across the Western Hemisphere throughout his twenty-year career. Captain Reinhold recently served as the chief of operations of Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron (HITRON) in Jacksonville, Florida. His other operational assignments include tours in Puerto Rico, South Florida, and New Jersey. He has accrued nearly three thousand hours as a military aviator and carries commercial pilot licenses in both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. In staff roles, he served as press assistant to the twenty-sixth commandant and as the Coast Guard’s deputy liaison to the US House of Representatives. A native of Arizona, Captain Reinhold graduated from the University of Arizona with dual bachelor’s degrees in ecology and Spanish. He earned a master of public policy from Princeton University in 2015.
