The Hoover Institution hosted "Our Political Parties and Political Dogmas-What Is Changing, and Why?" on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 4:30pm - 6:30pm EST.

A year ago, President Trump's election and Senator Sanders's surprising popularity in the primaries raised significant questions about the state of America's political parties, and the political coalitions that they represent. And those questions were only amplified in the year that followed, in elections and legislative debates.

Two scholars raised have examined these issues in widely-discussed books: Mark Lilla's The Once and Future Liberal, and Henry Olsen's The Working Class Republican. And a third commentator, David Frum, further examined their arguments in an Atlantic essay titled, "Challenging the Dogmas on Right and Left."

The Hoover Institution welcomed all three authors for a discussion moderated by Michael Franc, the Hoover Institution's Director of DC programs.

David Frum - Senior Editor at The Atlantic

Mark Lilla - Professor of Humanities at Columbia University

Henry Olsen - Senior Fellow at the Ethics & Public Policy Center

Michael Franc - Hoover Institution's Director of DC Programs, and a Hoover research fellow
