Robert B. Zoellick, the eleventh president of the World Bank Group, visited the Hoover Institution on Thursday, June 21, 2012, to discuss state of the global economy, the importance of long-term structural reforms, and the role of emerging markets with Hoover fellows and other Stanford scholars.
Before joining the bank, Zoellick served as vice chairman, international, of the Goldman Sachs Group and managing director, and chairman of Goldman Sachs' Board of International Advisors from 2006 to 2007. In 2005–6, Zoellick served as the deputy secretary of the US State Department, with roles as the department's chief operating officer and policy alternate for the secretary of state, in addition to having lead policy responsibility in a number of areas.
