Haifeng Huang

Haifeng Huang was a National Fellow and the Susan Louise Dyer Peace Fellow in 2018-19. Huang is also an associate professor of political science at the University of California, Merced. His research focuses on the politics of information flow and opinion formation in non-democracies, including misinformation, media freedom, and propaganda—often with inspirations drawn from China. He has also studied topics related to electoral competition and reform and social transition. Methodologically he uses formal modeling, survey research, and/or experimental methods.

Huang’s research has been published (or is forthcoming) in the American Political Science Review, British Journal of Political Science (2), Comparative Politics, Journal of Politics, Journal of Theoretical Politics, Political Research Quarterly, and Political Science Research and Methods, among other journals.
