LCDR Bradley Hoffman

Lieutenant Commander Bradley R. Hoffman was a national security affairs fellow at the Hoover Institution.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in history from the US Naval Academy and a master of arts degree in defense and strategic studies from the US Naval War College. He is also a graduate of the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School. At sea, he served as a division officer on USS Chicago (SSN 721) and as the targeting officer on the staff of Commander, Carrier Air Wing ELEVEN (CVW-11). He deployed aboard USS Jacksonville (SSN 699) to the Western Pacific and to the Arabian Gulf with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group. On shore, he served as an intelligence watch officer and as lead analyst for Central Africa in the Joint Intelligence Center, US Transportation Command. In his most recent assignment, he served as chief of plans in the Intelligence Directorate on the staff of Commander, US Pacific Fleet, where he achieved designation as a member of the navy’s Space and Indo-Pacific cadres. Lieutenant Commander Hoffman has served on teams that have been recognized with numerous awards. He is the recipient of the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards). His policy interests include talent management, Indo-Pacific security issues, advanced and emerging technologies, and the use of space and near space for national security.
