Dr. Broughel is an economist whose expertise lies in regulatory institutions and the effect of regulations on economic growth. He is author of the book Regulation and Economic Growth: Applying Economic Theory to Public Policy and is a regular columnist at Forbes, where he writes on topics such as artificial intelligence and innovation.

Broughel’s writing has been featured in national outlets including the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, and the Washington Post. He has also published in academic journals, including Regulation & Governance, Contemporary Economic Policy, and the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy (Federalist Edition). Broughel holds a PhD in economics from George Mason University and a BA and MA in economics from Hunter College of the City University of New York.
